As reported by Gawker, Adler’s article, written earlier this month, describes the urgency in protecting the Israeli people from threats such as Hamas and Hezbollah and argues

only three options available to Israel: 1. attack Hezbollah and Hamas; 2. “order the destruction of Iran’sh nuclear facilities at all costs;” 3. assassinate Obama.

The superceding indictment also charges Espada with under-reporting the profits of a janitorial company he controlled that had a contract with the non-profit Bronx health clinic.

Espada and his son Pedro G. Espada were charged in January 2011 with using more than $500,000 from the Soundview Health Care Network for personal expenses, including tickets to Broadway shows and sporting events, dinners and a luxury car. They are also charged with tax evasion.

Enough! Basta!

They are  the “dreamers” immigrants that come to the United States young and over stay visas or tie the knot to citizenship. And the Barack Obama administration is detaining and deporting this group in record numbers even much more than George Bush in the eight years in the White House. Obama administration is removing millions four to six of these dreamers and many of them  housed in detention facilities right here in Buffalo and Batavia some waiting months or years to challenge their cases in a court system inadequately staff to process them.

Many of these dreamers are Latinos the leaders of the communities pressured Obama to shift his policy from indiscriminately hauling anyone picked up into jail or detention facilities set up around the country to house them. And they have been successful though many view it as a band-aid approach prosecuting and targeting while considering the circumstances of those detained and arrested.

With 53% vs 47%, Mark Poloncarz too far ahead of incumbent Erie County Executive Chris Collins.  The Buffalo Puerto Rican Press calls this race for Poloncarz.  Editor-in-Chief of the Buffalo City Express News blogger Maria Rosa also call this race for Poloncarz  yesterday evening before any other on-line publication.

This signified the citizens and voters of Erie County fed up with Chris Collins running it as a business cutting vital social services program and slashing the arts and cultural organization in the city.  Buffalo may be one of the poorest cities in the nation but the folks here love their children and their arts and cultural organization, something Chris Collins disregarded along with the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library.

And  Buffalo News political columnist Robert J. McCarthy reported he loaned himself  $800,000 of his own money pegged at $1.3 million.

But  the $100,000 Collins raised  just at a luncheon at the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society  on Tuesday  says  Poloncarz might have a challenging time matching what Collins easily brings in.

And it helps to have friends like businessman Anthony H. Gioia in North Buffalo who hosted a swanky reception  with wealthy donors for Collins for the élite of Buffalo to hobnob with Republican Sen. John Thune of South Dakota.

They say Poloncarz raised $80,000 at the fundraiser the  congressional members from the up-state area contributed to his campaign earlier, as well as, had about $105,000 in July.

But there is still a chance for Poloncarz because Collins has not endeared himself to many constituents in the county who think it’s time for a change.  So many still wonder why he didn’t use the federal stimulus money to create jobs in Erie County with fewer jobs than in 2008 when Collins coasted through the elections instead of using it as he had to pay past debts.

There is just too many things piling up on his plate from his resistance to funding the arts to failing to create jobs for the local economy still suffering from the economic recession. As the saying goes, “this too shall pass.”

Toni Vazquez former candidate for the Amherst Town Board to the 6th legislative seat in Amherst if elected appears to be the first time an African-American women represents a suburban enclave. Toni and hubby prominent local physician Dr. Raul Vazquez founded the popular Urban Family Practice clinic in the lower West Side of Buffalo 15 years ago. And she is the daughter of the highly regarded community activist William Gaiter.

So there is squabbling about the method used to choose these candidates, troubling process that some in the community have questioned. Buffalo News political columnist Bob McCarthy wrote, “why is the party’s Executive Committee, rather than committee members from the legislative districts, choosing candidates?” The former Chairman of the Erie County Democratic Party Steve Pigeon asked the question first in a letter.

But whether primary voters selected the group, the Executive Committee or the district committeemen, the two districts that make up the minorities 1 and 2  split the Latino vote so one strategy over the other still doesn’t help to elect a Latino candidate political observers of the situation have speculated.

According to local election lawyer Peter Reese in a Buffalo news comment, he wrote, “Skretky’s redistricting and reapportionment Order (see page 12) requires the party nominations for the county legislature to be made by district committeemen.”
Legislature Chairwoman Barbara Miller-Williams is not on the list accused of caucusing with the Republicans, while schmoozing with Erie County Executive Chris Collins.
She has threatened court action, challenging the Executive Committee hand picked list for the Legislative Districts in what appeared as a violation of Skretky’s redistricting and reapportionment Order.
Interestingly, Timothy Hogues picked to oppose Miller-Williams NOSOTROS the Puerto Rican political group is hosting a fundraiser for him on Thursday, September 29, at the Olivencia Center.
A political blood bath is about to happen as the old factions resurface again, while Chair of the Erie County Democratic Party Len Lenihan  attempt to oust Mayor Byron Brown’s ally Miller-Williams from the legislature, a move certainly to cause the Mayor to sharpen his spurs.
