Superintendent Williams back to court again denied teachers involuntary transfers

August 12, 2010

According to a story in the Buffalo News today controversial Superintendent James A. Williams denied teachers an opportunity to exercise their contractual rights to involuntary transfer from their schools in what appears to be a violation of the collective bargaining agreement.

President of the Buffalo Teachers Federation (BTF) Phil Rumore who in June supported extending the contract of Williams through 2014 threaten to file a grievance and seek a court injunction.

Williams alleges it is his prerogative as superintendent of schools while the union president does not and once more the duo will be in court duking it out at a time when the Federal government is infusing $8 million into the Buffalo Schools, the  federal dollars to prevent teacher lay-off  though it already has laid off a few,  and does not plan to change it until the actual money starts flowing in.
