Transition team unveiled amid controversy from black leaders
Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo back from the Somos Legislative Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico Thursday showcased key African-American and Puerto Rican members of his transition team amid accusations from Al Sharpton he appeared to rely more for guidance on his “brain trust” and white inner circle of advisors.
And last Saturday before embarking on his trip to the Somos in Puerto Rico in a telephone conversation with the chair of the task force, Assemblyman Felix Ortiz, the governor-elect mentioned he planed on attending the conference but delayed working on his transition team.
“Among the co-chairs are Rep. Nydia Velazquez, who is Hispanic, and former Controller Carl McCall, who is African-American,” and appointed two other groups, according to the NYDaily news.
The rank and file Latinos and African-Americans from the beginning of the presidential campaign in choosing Robert Duffy for his Lt. governor have felt they are a political afterthought to the governor-elect then and still now.
