Rep. Charles Rangel walked out hearing no money to pay defense team

November 15, 2010

Representative Charles B. Rangel, Democrat of New York, walked out of his public ethics trial on 13 charges of unethical behavior  today, Monday morning, November, 15, 2010, after 40 minutes in the hearing. He has little money left to pay his defence team and the Committee hearing the case decline to allow him more time to raise funds as it wants to end the hearings before January. If he is found guilty and resigns a successor would have to be appointed to the 15th Congressional District, something former candidate for the seat in this past election, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. predicted might happen.
